Career Hero

RISK ANALYST - LONDON

What drew you to R&Q? How did you know it was the right place for you?
When I joined R&Q, the organisation was streamlining its activities and building out the Program business. I was excited about the opportunity to join a dynamic and entrepreneurial organisation. In addition, the two women I interviewed with really impressed me, I didn’t feel intimidated and had a pleasant interview experience. After all, an organization IS its people. It felt like a good fit for me.

Tell us about the work you do at R&Q.
I work in Risk Management, which involves implementing our risk framework across the business. This includes risk appetite monitoring, risk and control reviews, organising the corporate insurances, and much more. I tend to get involved in a little bit of everything…there is a wide range of groups and people I work with. I love that no day is the same and that I get to partner with different people all the time – Sr. Managers and more junior people, all across the business. Good thing I’m an extrovert.

What’s something you’re proud of from a work perspective?
I’ve recently begun ORSA (regulatory reporting) and have completed two reports independently so far. It felt like a big achievement to develop, support the business, and be their key point of contact for the entities I worked on.

How could someone grow in their career at R&Q?
Something my Manager told me early on has stuck with me: you’re in the drivers’ seat of your career. I would encourage others to say yes to opportunities, to networking, to taking on new projects, etc. Work on building relationships, always be kind, and explore opportunities to pursue professional qualifications. With R&Q being a smaller organization, you get the chance to meet with senior leaders, learn from them, build a good rapport and more. There are so many opportunities at R&Q and I’m pleased with my career progression here over the last five years.

What brings you to life outside work?
I love to dance and can always be found on the dance floor. I enjoy exploring my creativity through baking cakes and am also involved in my local Church.
